GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF GUJARAT

Gujarat is one of the twenty-eight states of India. It is the fifth largest state by land and the ninth most populous state in India. It is situated on India’s western coast. Gujarαt shares borders with Rajasthan to the northeastMaharashtra to the southeastMadhya Pradesh to the east, and Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu to the south. It also shares international borders with Pakistan to the west.

In India, Gujarαt has the longest coastline. Gujarαt ranks first in the production of cotton and groundnut in the country and second in the production of tobacco. Gujarαt is a major producer of inorganic chemicals as well as chemical fertilizers. The first expressway of India is in Gujarαt between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The Gir Forest National Park is the world’s last habitat of the Asiatic lion. Gujarαt is one of four Indian states to prohibit the sale of alcohol.
